How To Capture The Magic Of Your Wedding Forever And One Couple’s Devastating Mistake

by Pat Bloomfield on 20/02/2010

edding photographer ipswichI have just received two emails.

One made me overjoyed and the other made my heart sink!

The first was from a delightful couple, whose wedding I was fortunate enough to photograph.

They were so pleased with their wedding photos that they wrote to thank me for them.

It always makes me so thrilled that I’m able to capture someone’s special day in a way that they can share and talk about forever. It’s just the best feeling to be able to do what I love doing and make people delighted at the same time.

And the other email…

Well that’s one of the things that I hate about having a prominent website.  You see, people usually visit my site when they are looking for a quality Wedding Photographer that they can trust their big day with.

That’s a great part of my work, meeting couples in love and figuring out how we can create incredible pictures that capture the feelings that these two individuals have for each other.

But the other email was from someone who had wanted to save money and hired an Amateur Photographer.

They were not so pleased with their pictures – to put it mildly – and wanted me to do some repair work on them.

It’s true I can do that.  But there is only so much that I can do.

You have to have the raw materials to work with.  If the image is severely under or over exposed there is no way to recover the data.

Airbrushing and so on is just the icing on the cake.  But without a good quality digital negative – you will never create a great image.

When I get such emails I wish that I could turn back the time and help them plan out:

  • how to take best advantage of the scenery
  • how to get the right poses to portray a mood
  • how to use selective focus and create romantic soft focus for best effect
  • how to work around the weather barriers
  • how to work effectively with light
  • how to achieve accurate exposures in difficult lighting conditions
  • what can be fixed later and what must be included in the photos now

I had to just explain what I could do. And also to sensitively explain that I cannot make a sows purse out of a pigs ear.

There And Then I Vowed that I Would Do My Best To Help Any Visitor To My Site Avoid Ruining Their Memories With Sub-Standard Pictures

Now I would love to personally take everyone’s wedding pictures myself. I am a Professional Wedding Photographer and a perfectionist. I hate anything less than perfect. But the truth is that I can only be in one place at a time and so I can only do so many weddings.

But the blunt fact is, I probably won’t be there to personally oversee your wedding photography.

For that reason, you will find stacks of articles on this and my other websites that are designed to help ensure that you get the pictures and memories that you deserve.  Articles not just on photography but on every aspect of planning and designing your successful wedding day.

Now rather than having you play hunt and seek around the Internet and wasting precious time that could be better spent on preparations, I have compiled a collection of articles and resources.

Just enter your name and email below and I’ll send you them and others as I find them.
