Wedding Photography Marks Tey Essex

by Pat Bloomfield on 27/03/2010

Here are a few pictures from Chloe and Al’s wedding ceremony and reception at the Marks Tey Hotel in Marks Tey Essex.

The day started at Chloe’s mum’s in Frinton-on-Sea for Bridal preparations.  When I arrived Chloe was calm and having her hair done.  But her mum was upset as the flowers had arrived and the florist had not done them as asked.  They wanted a few Scottish thistles mixed in with the roses as Alistair comes from Scotland.  Coincidentally so did Chloe’s mum.  Chloe’s mum had to rush out to the florist to get the flower altered.  Luckily the florist was close by and she came back with the flowers minus some thistles.

Alistair’s family had all come down from Scotland for their wedding and were all at the venue when I arrived to photograph Alistair with the best man.  They were both with the registrar so I only had a few moments with them before Chloe was due to arrive.

Marks Tey Hotel has some small gardens outside that were great for outdoor group shots as it was an overcast day.

Bride and groom mock cake cutting. I got the best man to hold a remote flashgun to camera left to even up the light with the ambient light coming in from the window. The flahgun had to be used off camer to avoid having a flash light appear in the mirror behind the bride and groom.

You probably noticed that most of these images are monochrome either being black and white or sepia toned.  I could easily have chosen only monochrome images and only picked a couple to add a splash of colour.  Extracting the colour from images can often make them much more powerful in creating the emotions.  Monochrome is also timeless where as colour images can look dated as trends in fashionable colours change over time.  However colour is also powerful to show the spender of your wedding dress for example.  You will find my wedding photography has a good balance of both colour and monochrome photography.
